I am representing and assisting an elderly car enthusiast friend who has been a long time collector of primarily post-war american classic automobiles who desires to reduce his inventory. Some are originals in surprisingly good condition while others have had varying degrees of professional restoration. Most vehicles were purchased in the chicago area 20 to 35 years ago and initial restorations were undertaken, if required, at that time. Most all of the vehicles were not driven but were put on display and have since been stored in ventilated, insulated dry storage. Currently all vehicles reside in dry storage in port townsend, washington. Please be advised that the owner will share in reasonable transport costs. The vehicle featured in this ad is a 1948 cadillac sixty special 4 door, madeira maroon and grey, automatic, 81,987 miles, exterior all original and interior was completely redone as per original specifications… asking $25,000 vin# 486230251 from wikipedia: nearly every model was redesigned for 1948, including the $3,820 sixty special. With all-new sheet metal, but still riding an exclusive 133-inch wheelbase, the luxurious sixty special weighed in at 4,370 pounds shipping weight (over 4,500 pounds curb weight). Inside, electric window lifts and a two-way power bench seat were standard equipment. A clever rainbow-shaped instrument cluster which put all the gauges directly above the steering column in front of the driver was used for 1948 only, while a new curved dashboard design added to passenger roominess.

This makes it one of about 3500 current senior badge vehicles in the world. I purchased the car in 2002 and have had it stored in a heated garage at my home since then. The car is exactly the same as when it took 1st place in the ccca nationals in indianapolis in 1999 except for some mechanical improvements. The engine was rebuilt about 8 years ago by waterhouse machine in tacoma to correct a rod knock due to a defect in the original restoration. We also replaced the entire fuel system from tank to carburetor to correct fuel system issues caused by ethanol gas. The system is now fully compatible with ethanol gas. The car has been driven largely to local shows and family events. It has also been a favorite car to transport bride and grooms in wedding for family and friends. The car is very solid and runs great. I would not hesitate to drive it across country–if the weather was good!
